Club Music
We are now well into 2010 and this marks the start of a new decade and many are excited tgo see what types of music really takes off especially in the club scene.
Over the last couple of years we have seen the clubs taken over with everything from Ols School Garage, Bassline Funky House and Dub Step & Electro house
Personally i think last year was the year of Funky & Electro House in the clubs with many producers and artists going down this root and creating some great tracks. I hope this year continues ti impress in this scene and does not die out to soon.

The History Of Hip Hop
Hip Hop originally stemmed from the American street art of B-Boying – more commonly known as Breakdancing, it also has roots in MC ing, and DJing.
Born out of the frustrations of the black african American, Afro-Caribbean inhabitants of areas in New York It serves to show musical commitment to help the emacipation of these communities from oppressive social conditions.
Hip hop is not just about music, it also centres around DJing MCing, Street Grafitti and Breaking. These are known as the five pillars of hip hop as stated by Afrika Bambaataa.
Since first imerging from the south Bronx it has spread rapidly around the world and Hip hop and R&B music is the most popular form of music in current circulation.
Beatbox is another form of improvisation that stems from hip hop. The art of accuratley producing the functions of a electronic drum machine using only ones mouth. Impressive in live form, but done badly it can be a cringeworthy experience.
PAC MAN
A girl once approached me in a club bright eyed and bushy tailed and told me the following joke:-
“you know all this stuff in the papers about Computer games affecting the new generation of youngsters growing up to be hardened against violence and more likely to commit violent crime? – well when i was growing up, all i had to play was Pacman, and look how i turned out, Pac man never affected me, i mean, its not like i hang out in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music now is it?”
An amusing joke.
Clubs are evolving however, i went out a few weeks ago and things have changed, its seems not cool to dance anymore, kids just hang out in groups standing round looking for a reason to sneer at someone, its a case of being seen in the right circles wearing the right clothes rather than going out and having a good time.
Things should change and it starts here.. its down to you ye reader of the blog.
Are super clubs dead and buried?
During the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, the term super club was born. These referred to extremely large night clubs which could hope many thousands of people. Top quality DJ’s made up residences at places such as Cream in Liverpool, Ministry of Sound in London etc. But these quickly disappear as attendances dropped off. The main issue was that to support the sheer size of these clubs, they needed to be full. Was this drop off due to the shift in dance music? Perhaps, Trance was very big during this time and was well suited to large venues, but now people are preferring to attend more intimate club nights at smaller venues, which also seem less commercial (although generally are not). Also attendances at gigs and indie playing clubs are up, due to the introduction of internet piracy, record labels have had to replace revenues from album sales to live performances, changing the way bands are promoted. This could have a knock on effect on club nights as although to different genres of music there is a strong cross over between the two audiences
New Year Clubbing in London
London has two massive New Years Eve club nights this year:
Ministry of Sound @ O2 Arena
Although the tickets are pricey at approximately £75, the lineup is immense, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Justice, Plump DJs, Dave Spoon, Example, plus Eric Prydz.
This will definitely be a big night out, although I am put off by the pricing structure of the event, costing £50 for the upper bowl, then £75 for free flowing access
Get Loaded in The Dark
This at a better price of £35 and has a smaller but good lineup including Simian Mobile Disco, Chase and Status, Annie Mac, Herve, Sub Focus plus many more DJs
Rumors of Daft Punks up and coming tour
Daft Punk seems to be making headlines again, but all due to unconfirmed internet rumors. Daft punk last toured was in 2007 with the Alive tour and the last studio album was “Human After All” released in 2005, an Australian music website was leaked an unconfirmed report that they have seen a tour date list with Daft Punk on in September 2010.
But this has been rebutted by a spokesman for the act saying, “The recent rumors of a Daft Punk tour are false, we would like to ensure that no fans are taken advantage of by fictitious rumors of upcoming shows”
